Why choose North Devon for your next photography tour?
Four hundred fifteen million years of Earth's history is recorded in the Devonian sandstones and shales laid down beneath a vast ocean basin near the equator. As our world ushered in the Carboniferous period, these deposits were folded into a mountain range that today we call the North Devon coast. The deep valleys, combes, sheltered coves, the 2nd largest dune system (1000ha) and tallest sea cliffs (314m) in the British Isles host a variety of diverse habitats, from semi-natural ancient oak woodland dripping with lichen to weather-beaten yet colour rich maritime grasslands. The fast pace of changing weather rolling off the Atlantic Ocean and up the Bristol Channel is the last piece of the puzzle that makes this place so captivating to photograph.
Joshua shares his 30 years of immersion in the North Devon Coast through photography tour workshops and will guide you to make photographs of some of the most evocative views in the UK.
Joshua has built a close acquaintance with landscape and nature from over a decade of working in land management. His passion for the fundamental benefits of land and wildlife to every one of us has shaped his photographic style and approach. Joshua's creative process combines his knowledge of land and place, his love of landscape and his practice of photographic techniques to create beautiful imagery filled with emotion and intent.
Why make the photograph? To evoke an emotion? Would you be able to tell a story? Or to share a beautiful memory?
"There are many tools and techniques, inspiring weather and light, that can help us photographers to create an impactful image. However, the most challenging elements to include are emotion, a story and intent. Our North Devon photography tours are your chance to learn and develop a creative process that will help you add another layer of depth to your photography, to help you share what you were feeling just before you released the shutter." Joshua Day
Whether you are embarking on your photography journey or looking to refine your skills, Joshua will host small groups and facilitate critically productive discussions. He draws on the group's collective photographic experience and his own. He applies his instructional techniques training, and leadership skills to support you in exploring how you approach your image-making process.
All whilst acting as a guide to some of the most beautiful locations in the UK.
Don't wait to take your photography to the next level and experience one of the most evocative landscapes in the British Isles.
