Choose North Devon for your next photography holiday
Experience 450 million years of Earth's history as you explore an ancient mountain range's crumpled and folder rock strata. Today this place hosts deep valleys, wooded combes, sheltered coves, the 2nd largest dune system (1000ha), and the tallest sea cliffs (314m) on the British mainland. This is a place of semi-natural ancient oak woodland dripping with lichen and weather-beaten yet colour-rich maritime grassland. The fast pace of changing weather rolling off the Atlantic Ocean and up the Bristol Channel is the last piece of the puzzle that makes this place so captivating to photograph.
I share my 30 years of immersion in the North Devon Coast through photography tour workshops and will guide you to make photographs of some of the most evocative views in the UK.
From over a decade of working in land management, I have built a close acquaintance with landscape and nature. My passion for the fundamental benefits of land and wildlife to every one of us has shaped my photographic style and approach. I use a creative process that combines my knowledge of land and place, a love of landscape, and the current practice of photographic techniques to create beautiful imagery filled with emotion and intent.
Why make the photograph? To evoke an emotion? Would you be able to tell a story? Or to share a beautiful memory?
There are many tools and techniques, that can help us photographers to create impactful images inspired by weather and light. However, the most challenging elements to include are emotion, a story, and intent. Our North Devon photography tours are your chance to learn and develop a creative process that will help you add another layer of depth to your photography and help you share what you were feeling just before you released the shutter.
Whether you are embarking on your photography journey or looking to refine your skills, I host small groups and facilitate critically productive discussions that draw on the group's collective experience and my own. I will use my instructional techniques training and professional leadership skills to support you in exploring how you approach your image-making process.
